Certified Seed Garlic for Sale in Idaho – Safe for Allium Quarantine Counties

Updated: Jul 24

If you’re a gardener in Idaho looking to plant garlic this fall, you may have already heard about the state’s Allium Quarantine. This regulation is designed to protect Idaho’s agriculture from the devastating spread of white rot, a soil-borne fungus that can live in the ground for decades. But don’t worry—Garlic Gods is here to help you plant safely, legally, and successfully.

The rule is clear: Only certified, disease-free allium planting stock is allowed in quarantine counties.

Our Garlic Is Certified White Rot–Free

At Garlic Gods, we take soil health seriously. That’s why all of our heirloom seed garlic is:

  • Grown in Baine / Minidoka County

  • Certified disease-free

  • Tested annually for white rot through the Idaho Department of Agriculture

  • Any new varieties are tested, inspected, and certified through the University of Idaho

  • Heirloom hardneck and softneck garlic for Idaho and beyond

  • Grown using regenerative practices and a 5-year crop rotation

  • Never treated with chemicals, anti-sprouting agents, or synthetic sprays

Why Choose Garlic Gods?

We’re not just seed sellers—we’re garlic growers who believe in clean soil, honest farming, and high-quality heirloom bulbs. From hardneck favorites like Music, Metechi, and Chesnok Red to softneck varieties perfect for braiding and long-term storage, Garlic Gods has what you need.

Is Garlic Gods Organic?

Yes—and no.

At Garlic Gods, we follow strict natural growing practices that align closely with organic standards, but we are not USDA Certified Organic—and that’s by choice.

We never use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, and we never will. However, we’ve chosen not to pursue official certification, because we believe our commitment to the land and our customers goes beyond the label.

🧄 Our Growing Practices

Our methods are simple, consistent, and transparent:

ree
  • No chemicals or sprays—ever before planting or after harvest

  • Cover cropping with grain, mustard, legumes, clover, turnip, and buckwheat to enrich the soil

  • 5-year crop rotation to prevent disease and maintain soil health

  • Fertilization with natural inputs like fish emulsion and blood meal

  • Weed control by hand and with mechanical cultivators—no herbicides, ever

  • No anti-sprouting agents—our garlic stores naturally up to 9 months depending on the variety

  • Heirloom, certified disease-free garlic tested annually to ensure it’s white rot–free

Our farm was planted in pasture since the early 1980s. Since taking stewardship of this land, we’ve only improved it—with every cover crop and every season.

Why We Don't Seek Certification

While USDA Organic certification sounds like a gold standard, it comes with exceptions we aren’t comfortable with. For example, certified organic farms are sometimes allowed to:

  • Use non-organic inputs (when approved)

  • Sometimes apply certain synthetic pesticides and fertilizers

  • Plant GMO seed as a “last resort”

We don’t play by the “sometimes,” “when approved,” or “last resort” rulebook.

At Garlic Gods, our approach never changes. We grow with integrity, sustainability, and transparency—not to meet a certification, but to meet a higher standard that we set for ourselves.

Our Promise

We’re not chasing a label. We’re growing garlic the right way—clean, honest, and responsibly farmed.
