Meet the Founders
Geoffrey Yockey
Co-Founder | Garlic Gods
Chef, Farmer, Field Expert
Geoffrey Yockey is a professionally trained chef and lifelong grower who blends culinary insight with hands-on farming expertise to shape everything Garlic Gods grows and offers. Raised on a small farm in Tennessee, Geoff developed a deep respect for food and the land early on. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida as a teenager, he began working in restaurants, where he discovered a true passion for food that led him to culinary school and a decades-long career in fine dining along Florida’s east coast.
Though he thrived in the kitchen, Geoff always felt a pull back to the land. That calling eventually led him and his wife, Jana, to establish Garlic Gods, their small regenerative garlic seed farm in Southern Idaho.
At Garlic Gods, Geoff’s primary focus is field operations—disking, plowing, mowing, planting, irrigation setup, maintenance, and mechanical repairs. He also manages crop rotation and cover cropping strategies, fertilizer application, and the design of curing facilities. From weeding garlic beds to overseeing harvest protocols, Geoff ensures that every step of the growing process meets his exacting standards.
His culinary background drives Garlic Gods’ variety selection and flavor testing, with an eye toward garlic that performs well in both the kitchen and the field. Geoff’s constant pursuit of quality leads him to study soil health, consult with experts, and always ask the guiding question:
“How do we make this better?”
Whether tending garlic or preparing a meal, Geoff’s approach is rooted in passion, precision, and a deep understanding of food from seed to plate.
Jana Yockey
Co-Founder | Garlic Gods
Farmer, Operations Manager, Fifth-Generation Idahoan
Jana Yockey is a fifth-generation farmer and lifelong Idahoan, continuing her family’s legacy on the same land her great-great-grandparents homesteaded in 1908. Alongside her husband, Geoff, she co-founded Garlic Gods—a small regenerative garlic seed farm in Idaho’s Magic Valley. Just 20 miles from her childhood home, their farm is both a new chapter and a continuation of generations of sustainable agriculture.
Jana wears many hats at Garlic Gods. She oversees day-to-day operations across the entire business, with a strong focus on packaging, shipping, and order fulfillment. In the field, she manages weeding, harvest organization, and leads the farm crew. In the office, she handles everything from marketing, web design, and wholesale coordination to social media, email communications, retail sales, and customer service.
With a background in education and community farming, Jana has a passion for helping others grow their own food—especially home gardeners, homesteaders, and small farms. Every customer receives knowledgeable, personalized support.
Raised outdoors and surrounded by animals, Jana’s love for the land is as personal as it is professional. Their homestead is a diverse operation that includes pasture-raised chickens, beef cows, pigs, and a large garden. Whether feeding livestock, planting garlic, or answering customer questions, she’s driven by one purpose: to stay connected to the land and empower others to do the same.
“For us, farming isn’t just a job — it’s a way of life. We feel lucky to work the land, grow good food, and share it with our community.”
